| Biography |
After graduating from Skyline High School in Idaho Falls, I
attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. I graduated from the UA in the winter of 1985 with a Bachelor
of Science in Business Administration degree in Finance/Accounting. I am married to Jim McGeachin, who was born and
raised in Idaho Falls. We have been married for 21 years and have two children,
Liza, who is a sophomore at the University of Idaho, and
James, a junior at Skyline High School. I enjoy spending time
with my kids and feel fortunate to be involved in their lives. My husband and I own and operate three automotive
businesses including retail, wholesale, and manufacturing. Western Transmission is an automotive repair shop.
Idaho Transmission Warehouse is a wholesale automotive parts store that distributes parts to seven northwestern states.
High Torque re-manufactures torque convertors for automotive transmissions. We must negotiate good prices from our
suppliers while at the same time maintain quality control. The success of any organization depends largely on its
financial strength and its ability to attract and keep good employees. Our thirty seven employees are a large part of
our business success.
Community Involvement
I have a deep commitment to serve my community. As an active, fully supporting member of First Presbyterian Church, I
taught Christian Education to 3 and 4 year old children and served on the Search
Committee for Youth Pastor. At Templeview Elementary School, my time was spent in the classroom tutoring, reading
and assisting with field trips.

Political Involvement
For the past ten years, I have been an active member of the Bonneville County Republican Women and the Bonneville County
Republican Central Committee, having served as Precinct Committee Person
for precinct 40. My first run for public office was in the year 2000 as a candidate for Bonneville County
Commissioner. In 2002, I served as Bonneville County Finance Chair for Senator Larry Craig.
I am now serving my third term in the Idaho House of Representatives on the following committees: Joint Finance and Appropriations (JFAC),
Health and Welfare, Judiciary and Rules, and Millenium Fund. As a member of the
House Health & Welfare Committee, I chaired a sub-committee to review agency
rules and was asked by House Leadership to serve on a Medicaid Task Force sub-committee to identify savings in the Medicaid
budget. I hope to return for a fourth term to continue my work on these committees.
In 2005, along with several of my colleagues, helped to establish the Fiscal Policy
Caucus (FPC). The FPC is committed to the principles of less government, lower taxes, personal responsibility, and
accountable government and sought to educate House members on fiscal policy issues. |
